Eastern Zone Manual Revision
(The House approved the
interim changes to the manual and authorized the task force to
continue with the Phase 2 updates.)
In
September, the Eastern Zone directors appointed a task force
to review and revise the Eastern Zone Manual. The product
of that review/revision is attached for your consideration
prior to the May meeting. Keep in mind that this is Phase
One of what we hope will be a two-phase project. This first
revision was undertaken in order to consolidate, clarify,
simplify and update the manual. There are still several
items that need to be addressed and specific information
that needs to be included – those areas will constitute
Phase Two.
Background is the process by which we arrived at the
end product of Phase One and the projected plan for Phase
Two.
EZ Manual
Complete is the compilation of approximately 15
different documents, complete with tracked changes.
Housekeeping
lists all the (tracked) changes that we believe 1) do
not change the intent or purpose of the original wording
and/or 2) provide more clarity than the original wording
and/or 3) conform to current practice and/or 4) conform to
previously adopted legislation
Substantive
lists all the (tracked) changes that have not been adopted
in prior legislation and those that go beyond the guidelines
listed for housekeeping.
The
complete manual is literally packed with colorful tracked
changes. In order to make it more “readable” you can choose
to see it in its final form without all the markups. Choose
VIEW from the top menu and click MARKUP. This will show or
hide the deletions and comments in the document.
Thanks to
the task force members – JoAnn Faucett, Isabelle Fraser,
Ellen Johnston, and Fred Killian – for their combined
efforts on this. Special thanks to John Hirschmann for his
review and suggestions.
