  • The YMCA of Greater Richmond Tritons Swim Team (YGR) is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to coach and mentor our swimmers at our Shady Grove YMCA location.  Responsibilities include coaching all practices, communications with parents and swimmers, attending all swim meets, coaching swim clinics and administrative duties.  This position will be working varied hours to include early morning practices, evenings and weekends.  Must have the ability to travel between YMCA’s and out of town for swim meets.  This individual will support the Director of Competitive Swimming for the team. 
    Requirements include 2- 3 years of coaching experience, preferably year round and proficient in all competitive strokes.  Prefer USA Swimming/ASCA coaching level I and II.  Strong interpersonal skills and written/verbal communication skills necessary. Prefer for candidate to have a bachelor’s degree, and must possess current certifications in CPR, First Aid, Coaches Safety Training or Lifeguard training.  This position also requires the ability to plan, develop, organize, manage and administer various tasks.  PC skills to include Microsoft Office products such as Outlook and Word as well as familiarity with Meet/Team Manager and Team Unify.  Minimum salary is $24,000.  Qualified candidates should submit a cover letter, resume and a minimum of 3 references to Patricia Green.  8/24/2010
     

  • The Virginia YMCA Aquatic Club (VYAC), located in Portsmouth, VA, is seeking a part time swim coach to assist large team with practices on a weekly basis.  Duties would include preparing workouts and availability to help out at monthly swim meets, both Y and USA Swimming.  Looking for someone with a background in competitive swimming with knowledge of the four competitive strokes, good work ethic, reliable, and someone that easily connects with kids aged 5-15 and can convey stroke instruction in a clear manner.  Varied shifts including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.  Candidate must be able to pleasantly communicate the mission and vision of the YMCA with parents, members, and swimmers.   Candidate must also help with special events, marketing opportunities, and other duties as assigned.  ASCA membership preferred, but not required.  Coaching experience a must.  PAY: Hourly, negotiable in the $8.50-$12.00/hr range.  CONTACT:   Head Coach or drop your resume off at the front desk of the Greenbrier Family YMCA, 1033 Greenbrier Parkway, Chesapeake, VA 23320.  9/17/2010
