  • Valley Swim Team Phoenix (VSTP), a USA Swimming team located in Strasburg, Virginia with a focus on Swimming excellence and character building, is looking for a Head Coach, Age Group Coach, and Developmental Coach.  The Team is currently averaging 50 full-time swimmers ages 5 -18.  We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, energetic person with the ability to lead or support our coaching staff as we grow the team and achieve our Vision to be the area’s top competitive swim program.  We support continuing coaching education and have an established mentoring program with a nationally recognized, Olympic level program in the Northern Virginia / Potomac Valley Regions.  Start Date:  Position will remain open until filled.   • NOVA of Virginia (NOVA) is one of the premier swim clubs in the United States, consistently ranked in the Top 10 nationwide and #1 in Virginia Swimming.  The club has two locations, our main location in suburban Richmond and a satellite site in Hopewell, Virginia.  We are seeking a full-time Head Coach for the Hopewell site.  This coach will benefit from the support and resources of the larger NOVA club, while maintaining primary responsibility for the Hopewell site and reporting to a Board of Directors specific to the site.  The position is a great match for a current Head Coach who wants to get the benefits of working with a nationally-ranked team while still maintaining some independence, or an Assistant Coach who wishes to take on more responsibility, but wants the support of a larger organization.  The ideal candidate will possess:  3-4 years of year-round coaching experience; Level 3 or above ASCA certification; proficiency in TeamUnify and HyTek; a four-year degree in a related field; and great organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills.  Responsibilities will include:  spending 20-25 hours on deck each week, primarily afternoon/early evening and including some weekend/early morning time; attending local and regional meets throughout the season; managing many administrative aspects of the Hopewell site (approximately 5 hours per week), including swimmer registration, billing, fundraising, volunteering and customer service; and working with NOVA coaches and support staff on marketing, travel and outfitting.  The position offers benefits and salary commensurate with experience.  If interested, please send resume and salary requirements to Coach James Greewnwood (9/7/2014)
     

  • Prince William Swim Club (PWSC), a fast-growing team located in eastern Prince William County, is seeking a part-time assistant coach to assist with our newly-created Advanced Junior (primarily 10&Under) and Pre-Senior (11-14 year olds) groups.   Qualified candidates should have a competitive swimming background; prior coaching/teaching experience is ideal.  Above all, the ideal candidate would possess a passion for swimming and an enthusiasm for working with young swimmers.  Background checks are required, and coaches’ certification tests must be taken (reimbursement provided by the team).  Weekly hours will vary between winter and summer seasons, with winter practices primarily between 5-7 pm on weekdays.   Attendance at weekend meets approximately once per month.  Hourly position with potential to transition to salaried based on performance.  We are seeking to expand our age group program, and this is an ideal position for someone looking to begin a coaching/teaching career.  PWSC trains at the Dale City and Chinn Recreation Centers in Woodbridge.  Interested candidates should contact Head Coach, Scott O’Reilly (9/7/2014)
     

  • The webmaster's biennial contract is due to be renewed this year.  Several individuals, including our current webmaster, have expressed an interest in serving Virginia Swimming in this capacity; therefore, bids for this position are being requested from others who may also be interested.  The job involves keeping the website current and developing any needed new programs for the site.  A description of the applicant’s abilities and accomplishments in website design and maintenance abilities should be submitted along with independent references regarding each of these areas.  An interview with a designated committee will also be necessary.  For further information, please contact the Virginia Swimming Administrative Vice-Chair, Terry Randolph (8/17/2014)
